Another Day in Paradise!!!
Meredith uses the Jeep to go to work every day so our mornings are orchestrated to drop the boat early, bring home the trailer and unhook it, and walk back down to the marina later. Gabe’s little Radio Flyer wagon has seen a lot of miles since we got it 2 years ago, but it’s really gone the distance lately!
Tuesday we spent most of the day on the water with our friend Rickey. About noon we happened upon a boat that was flagging us down. Motor problems. Gabe and I decided to help. If you leave someone stranded, you may be next; especially when their offering a free tank of gas. Usually when I’ve hauled in distressed boaters in the past monetary reimbursement had not been part of the deal. I was fortunate that this particular person actually intended to pay us for the tow because ironically, later that day we ran out of gas on our way back from Caladesi! Lucky for us we have trolling motors, which did the job in bringing us in.
Gabriel and I had planned to fish with Jim Nielsen on Friday but wind and rain spoiled those plans. We met at the chatter box for breakfast instead, and talked about the progression of tarpon season so far.
- The incoming tides have definitely seen the most fish. Although, the slack seems to be the ticket for slow moving fish high in the water column. - We ate eggs and biscuits and gravy while Gabe talked Jim’s ear off. Afterwards we practiced riding the Schwinn in front of the house. Gabe says he’s starting to keep his balance, and he always wants to go fast! His hand-eye-coordination is definitely improving along with his balance.
